Need to view a CWK file Best answer on the web
CWK could actually also be an Appleworks file. I do believe that Appleworks replaced Clarisworks, but a Clarisworks converter might not do it for you because it could be saved in a format developed after the demise of Clarisworks. Unfortunately, there is no "free" viewer available, except for the Method that I listed at the bottom, which would require you to gain access to a Macintosh Computer. The only viewer that I was able to come up for Windows is one that is still in development: http://www.panergy-software.com/products/icword/pcwelcome.html A viewer running in Windows would have to be able to read the Macintosh AppleWorks format, at which point it would only take an additional tiny step to make such a "viewer" a "converter". I was not able to locate an application that "renders" an AppleWorks document without giving the user the ability to convert it to another format.
===Method 1===
I did find a third party application that will let you convert a ClarisWorks/Appleworks file on your Windows machine. You can find detailed information about the conversions possible here (see bottom): http://www.dataviz.com/products/conversionsplus/cp_details.html
The program does cost $69.95 and you can download it immediately after paying here: http://www.dataviz.com/purchase/buy/conversionsplus/cpw_order_pg1.html This program is highly recommended by various websites on the internet.
===Method 2===
Another way to do this would be to use a third party service to convert all the files for you. Here is a link to a service that will do this for you (minimum cost appears to be $27 plus $5 per MB emailed). If you do use this service, you should zip up the files to save some money. This might also be a good idea if you do not believe that you will need this functionality in the future.
"While we do guarantee that we can convert your files (or else we wont charge you), we do not guarantee that your converted files will retain all the features of your originals." Here is the link to this service: http://www.tandb.com.au/convert/
===Method 3===
Most new Apple computers should be able to open the file in AppleWorks (which should be installed on any Macintosh computer shipped in the last few years). If you are able to access a Macintosh computer with Appleworks, save the file in RTF or Text Format and then import it to the application of your choice such as Word on Windows.
I hope one of these methods will help you convert these files. Please let me know if you run into any problems, or if you require any clarifications to this answer. I will do my best to further assist you as best as I can.

If this is a text file, and you just want to read the text
content, you can likely open it with Notepad in order to
accomplish this. Would you like instructions on how to set
your system up to accomplish this? If so, please say what
operating system you're currently using.

thank you for your interest.
I tried Notepad, Wordpad, and Word, and just get gibberish. So it's not a text file, I'm afraid.
PC, you must......
"Want to share your AppleWorks document with the world and have them see
it just as you intended? Or for them to view it without changing the file?
Thanks to the advanced Quartz graphics system in Mac OS X, simply save the
print preview and you automatically create a document in PDF format. Then
anyone with Adobe Acrobat Reader - or Mac OS X - can view what you made."
Hope this helps.....
